Fall and Winter fishing ( Mid October through early April) The big bull redfish begin to show up near the beaches along Orange Beach Alabama, Gulf Shores Alabama and Pensacola Florida about mid October and run through early April. These big redffish can be caught on 4 and 6 hour fishing charters by slow trolling or casting into a big school. The north wind in the fall and winter sometimes blow across our beaches which run from east to west. The land and condos block this wind and can create some nice beautiful calm waters for some relaxed relaxed fishing. Awesome fall and winter fishing.
Offshore bottomfishing for grouper, scamp, white snapper, vermillion snapper, triggerfish and amberjack can be enjoyed in the fall and winter.
Spring fishing The redfish often hang around till early April. What a blast catching these big reds. The big cobia usually begin to show along the beaches of Orange Beach, Gulf Shores Alabama and Pensacola, Florida from mid March through the end of April. Cobia can weigh well over 100 pounds and a 117 pound cobia holds the state record. These fish are caught as we travel slowly down the beach sightfishing. Be ready for a fight when you hook one of these big fish on spinning tackle. Hang on and enjoy as others cheer you on.
Summer fishing Red snapper season (June 1st through September 30th in Federal waters) (April 15th through October 31st in Florida waters. We are licensed in Florida.) Red snapper is very popular with Orange Beach fishing. It is common to catch snapper from 5lbs to 15lbs. However, we have caught many over 20lbs with our largest weighing 35lbs. A whopping 29.10lb red snapper was caught on the Getaway during the 2007. Red snapper are usually caught on all of our bottomfishing trips. Our 6 and 8 hour trips are very popular for red snapper fishing. Red snapper is a favorite on the table as well.
Grouper, scamp, amberjack, vermilion snapper, triggerfish and white snapper are caught throughout the summer as well as all year.

Amberjack like the ones above can be caught year round
Take a look at the big vermillion snapper in the pic below. These are sometimes caught two at a time. Now that is a fight. These two weighed over 5 pounds each.

Wahoo are caught from mid May into early fall on many fishing charters in Alabama.
Beautiful stripes on this big wahoo
King mackerel and spanish mackeral are found in late April though November. We usually catch these fish by nearshore trolling, but they can be caught bottomfishing. King mackerel can give you a challenge as they quickly swim away from the boat and then swim back to you in just seconds. These fish can weigh up to 60lbs.

Spanish and king mackerel in above pic
Sharks can be caught on 4 hour, 6 hour or longer trips. They can be small or they can be huge. Bull sharks are very common in our area but there many other species. Shark fishing can create much anticipation and excitement.
Offshore Trolling Trips The Full Day Offshore Trolling Trips can sometimes produce wahoo, mahi mahi(dolphin), blackfin tuna and always a chance to hook a yellowfin tuna, sailfish, white marlin or a blue marlin from June through October. This trip can also be a combination of trolling and bottomfishing.
Sailfish shown above. We usually see some really blue water move in closer by late May. The wahoo is one of the fastest swimming fish in the Gulf of Mexico. As you will see, they can rip the line off a reel in just seconds. The mahi mahi (dolphin) will give you a show when they are hooked. They will jump and flip across the water, showing their beautiful colors of green, blue and yellow. Tuna are sometimes caught on these trips. They can always give a pull.
Bull dolphin and cow dolphim (mahi mahi) If you are looking to catch a billfish then the white marlin is the one you are likely to see. However, you always have a chance to hook into a blue marlin. This offshore trolling trip requires patience. You must enjoy the trip and the hunt as much as the catch.
