January 2012 There were not too many anglers out in January. However, the bull redfish bite has been good. The bull reds should be around till late March or early April. Spanish mackerel should appear by early March.

November 23rd, 2011 Great fishing continues during this Thanksgiving week. Big bull redfish were caught yesterday on a 4 hour charter. This redfish bite should get better everyday as the temps cool down. December and January should be awesome for nearshore redfishing.

November 21st, 2011 Thanksgiving week is giving us some very good fishing in Orange Beach. It is a warm week so far. We caught amberjack, scamp, vermillion snapper, triggerfish, white snapper and king mackerel on a 10 hour aboard Another Getaway. We also caught some big king mackerel on a 6 hour charter along with vermillion snapper, white snaper and triggerfish. the bull redfish bite should be on again with our next cold front. Plenty of great fishing ahead for bull redfish. Orange Beach fishing should be good all winter.

November 16th, 2011 Orange Beach fishing for big bull redfish has been very good so far in November. These bull reds are ranging from 17 pounds to over 30 pounds. Everyone enjoys the action on light spinning tackle. This fishing will improve as the temps get cooler. We also caught nice amberjack, vermillion snapper, triggerfish, scamp and red grouper in November on our last 10 hour Orange Beach fishing charter.
October 21st, 2011 Awesome weather and great Orange Beach fishing continues into late October. The big bull redfish are appearing as we continue to catch plenty of Spanish mackerel. The redfish action should be hot by the end of October. Amberjack are still being caught offshore but the other reef fish bite is a bit slow. I would expect the bite to improve over the next week. King mackerel catches have been isolated but some days can be good. Weekends are booking very fast for November Orange Beach Fishing. Call me and let's go fishing. 251-981-8047 Captain Don McPherson

The Spanish mackerel bite has been really good on the 4 hour trolling trips. a few kings have been caught but overall a little slow. A few small mahi mahi were caught this morning on a trolling charter. September should offer some great fishing as the temps decrease some. Hopefully the fall king fishing will be good on the 4 hour trolling trips. Bull redfish should appear in October or possibly earlier. Come join us.

July 27th, 2011 July has been an awesome month for fishing. The red snapper bite has been incredible. We now have to release these big fish until next summer. If you are looking for action and want to catch and release your fish then the 5 hour charter is the one to choose. King mackerel and Spanish mackerel have been biting well on the 4 hour charters. Don't forget that amberjack season opens August 1st and it should be great. I would suggest a 10 or 12 hour charter for the larger amberjack. You will also catch variety on these full day charters. The bite is on. Come and get you some.
July 1st, 2011 Red snapper and more red snapper. We are catching some very nice size red snapper with many in the 8 - 12 pound range and some weighing over 15 pounds. The king mackerel bite is improving with some nice ones in the 15 to 20 pound range. The full day charters are still producing a variety of fish. Amberjack season opens August 1st and red snapper season closes July 18th. There is still plenty to catch.

June 18th, 2011 June is off and running with awesome catches of red snapper. This is one of the best seasons I have experienced. We are seeing many red snapper in the 8-12 pound range and of course many larger ones. The 6 hour charter is the most popular charter for these red snapper. I hope you enjoy some of the pics from the past couple of weeks.

February 25th We enjoyed a nice 6 hour charter a few days ago. We caught some vermillion snapper, white snapper, triggerfish and also released a few red snapper. This was our first charter on our new boat, Another Getaway. The Getaway is having her annual maintenance completed and should be fishing by March 10th, 2011. February has given us some beautiful weather. We are enjoying temps in the low 70's. Fishing should be great this year with such minimal pressure on the fish in 2010. Come on and let's go fishing.
February 11th, 2011 We have experienced a much colder winter across the country this year. The cooler weather has limited our fishing a bit but there are still some bull redfish being caught. The redfish should be around through early April. Spanish mackerel should arrive by mid March. Cobia will hopefully appear by late March. Come join us on the GETAWAY or ANOTHER GETAWAY for some fun & fishing.

These big fish are being caught on light tackle and on 4 hour fishing charters. December 1st, 2010 The bull redfish bite is on and we are catching reds wighing from 17 to 30 pounds. Our light spinning tackle is awesome on these bif big bulls. Watch a big bull attack a topwater plug. All about fun and fishing.
September 7th, 2010 Fishing is really good with Spanish mackerel and king mackerel being caught on 4 hour fishing charters. Red snapper are being caught on 6 hour charters but have to be released. The federal waters just opened last week so there are very few reports. August 8th, 2010 The oil well has finally been plugged and the oil flow has stopped. The waters are looking great. We fished our first trip today since June 2nd, 2010. We had a 6 hr charter and caught Spanish mackerel. We also released numerous nice red snapper. Come join us as it is just beginning. March 21st, 2010 Spring Break is here and so is the fishing. We have experienced several 4 and 6 hour saltwater fishing charters the past week. We are catching a few bull redfish but they are very isolated. Spanish mackerel have just been located a couple of days ago. We have also caught and released a few red snapper on light tackle. A few triggerfish, vermillion snapper and white snapper have been caught on the 6 hour charters. Some very nice amberjack were caught on an 8 hour charter on saturday. Amberjack are usually only caught on 10 and 12 hour charters. However, since there has been very little pressure and the season was closed for a few months, we were able to locate a few amberjack on the 8 hr charter. This may last through April. Enjoy the great fishing pics from Spring Break 2010.

What's biting week of March 1st, 2010? The water is colder than normal from our cold winter and the nearshore fishing is really slow. The bull redfish have moved farther offshore. Untill the water temps increase, your best bet will be fishing at least 20 miles offshore. This can be done on a 6 hr charter. Vermillion snapper, white snapper and triggerfish may be caught. Spanish mackeral and cobia should arrive by late March and can be caught on 4hr charters. Don't forget amberjack season is now open and will probably close late July. An 8hr charter may provide some amberjack. However a 10 hour is always a good trip. Come hook into a big amberjack and hang on. Also, don't forget Gulf Shores Spring Break is here. February 12th, 2010 It is cold and rainy today in Orange Beach, Al. We are experiencing some unusually cold, wet weather. The good news is that we should see much nicer weather by March. March will probably be the last month to catch big bull redfish. We will fishing for Spanish mackerel and cobia in March. The amberjack bite should be hot offshore. Come on and let's go fishing. February 1st, 2010 It is finally warmer with highs in the upper 50's and lower 60's. The redfish bite is still on nearshore on the 4 hour fishing charters. Spring Break is coming and we are excited. Will be looking for cobia, redfish, Spanish mackerel and much much more. We have the Getaway in the boatyard getting new paint on the bottom and the hull. she is looking good. We plan on being in the water by Feb 8th and fishing. come join us. January 20th, 2010 We are back from a wonderful time in Costa Rica. The fishing was a bit slow, but I sure did enjoy the beautiful weather and the scenery. The food was delicious. Fish and fruit and more fish and fruit. No complaints from me. We did catch a few sailfish and mahi mahi over the week. Leigh and I met up with my good friend Larry and his friend Jeffery. We all four fished together. I must say, I enjoyed the entire experience including the fishing, the beautiful scenery, the very friendly people, great food and relaxing. Now I am ready for some great Alabama Gulf Coast fishing. January 3rd, 2010 It is cold all across the country today, including Orange Beach, Alabama. We usually do not experience this cold weather more than 2 -3 days. I will be on vacation January 10th through 17th and then be back fishing again. The big bull redfish should be around till late March. Spring Break is coming soon. Book your trip now. December 27th, 2009 The big bull redfish bite is still on. We caught some very nice bull reds this week weighing from 18 to 28 pounds. This is just awesome. There is plenty more time to come and experience this great winter fishing for bull redfish in Orange Beach, Al. they should be around till late March. December 23rd, 2009 We fished yesterday and caught some very nice bull redfish. We had one over 30 pounds. It was a beautiful day with a cool morning warming to 65 degrees. It is just awesome to watch so many anglers catch 20 to 30 pound fish on light spinning tackle. The 4 hour saltwater fishing charters are a real deal. I wish we had this kind of fishing year round but the bull redfish bite only happens from late October through early March and then tapers off into the end of March. We will take Dec 24th and 25th off and then be fishing on Dec 26th. Go here to see Saltwater Fishing Pics from 2009
