Captain Don's pick : April 18th, 2008 I am picking Getaway Charters this week as the thing to do in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, Alabama. I am Captain Don McPherson, owner and Captain of the Getaway. Many are planning their summer vacation and now is a good time to make plans for a special outing for your family or friends. Choose a short 4 hour charter, 6 hour charter or all day on the water. We are all about fun and fishing. April 5th, 2008. Leigh and I had dinner at Geno's Fresh Catch Grill Friday night and I must say it was wonderful. We had Chili Garlic Sashimi for an appetizer. It was awesome. Leigh had Blackened Chilean Sea Bass and I had Seared Ahi tuna cooked rare. They were both served with vegetables. We finished with creme brulee for desert. The entire dining experience deserves an A+. Great restaurant and great job Chef Geno.
March 24th, 2008 Villagio Grille at The Wharf is always a great choice. Leigh and I have enjoyed luch and dinner. The grilled tuna on the open fire grill is awesome. The chicken pesto pizza is so much more than just pizza. The steak and burger are both great. Not your typical beach restaurant. Stop by and tell Lane and Ginny I said hi. March 3rd, 2008 Leigh and I were looking for a light dinner on Tuesday night. We decided on Cosmo's in Orange Beach. We have visited this fine restaurant many times before. As usual, we ordered tuna. We had the Sesame Seed Tuna Salad. This dish consisted of seared tuna strips, mixed greens, light crispy Asian noodles, dried cranberries all topped with a light Asian dressing. We ordered wasabi, ginger sauce and ginger strips on the side. A nice glass of Chardonnay added and wow, what a meal. An awesome dinner February 17th, 2008. We enjoyed a great meal at at Ginny Lane Bar and Grill located at The Wharf in Orange Beach. Although they serve wonderful seafood, steak and much more, this is not your typical beach restaurant. The atmosphere is both fun and classy, and Lane always has a new creation on the menu. We enjoyed a variety including a great tasting ribeye, bayou grouper, pecan encrusted snapper and shrimp scampi. Don't forget the tasty desserts including white chocolate bread pudding and citrus pie. Thanks, Lane and Ginny, for a special dining experience.
